Roman Baths to be handed over to the Russians.

Councillor and Green Party leader, James Chadwick shockingly announced that the council have agreed to sell the Roman Baths to an unknown group of rich Russians who want to use it as their holiday home. The decision was made at a last minute emergency meeting last night.

The family of Russians have won an astonishing €50million after they sued The State Hermitage, a museum of art and culture in Saint Petersburg. The Museum were believed to have stolen a painting from the family without crediting them. 

The family later contacted Bath council explaining their fascination with the Roman Baths after visiting on previous family holidays. They gave a convincing case on how the iconic Roman Baths complex is the perfect site for their very own holiday home. 

The Baths will be unlicensed from the Romans and handed over to the Russian family at the beginning of next year. The family have demanded the council to make the site more homely by adding modern rooms for the family to live in. 

Roman Baths are known to be a day-to-day chore in Ancient Rome, Bath contains one of the best complexes in Europe. The Baths are a major tourist attraction which receive more than one million visitors a year therefore it was difficult for the Council to even consider selling it but after being offered £150million by the Russians, it was difficult to turn down. 

This morning reactions from the public have been very one sided, many disapprove of the decision that has been made.

“The Roman Bath site is a historical interest within Bath and has been for years, the council must be weak to suddenly change this just because they were offered a lot of money.” Sarah Buckle, 48.
