On Tuesday 24 November we invited Grammy Nominated Producer to share his experiences. James Whetherly, also known as 'Wev' is a freelance producer and production manager, specialising in live and interactive music based projects, commercials and corporate communications.
We were given to opportunity to speak to James to learn more about his busy career. Whetherly spoke about his experience as production manager for music videos at the beginning of his career, he highlighted that music was something he was passionate about when he was younger and being able to combine his profession with a passion is the perfect way to start. James explained how if he were to produce another music video in this day and age it would be for disclosure.
Towards the end of our talk, James dedicated time to sharing advice with us, "never be late and always say thank you." He believes that kindness is key within this industry and although he made a point of trying to avoid the cliches he felt strongly about karma.
Interested in the highlight of his career, we asked him who he enjoyed working with the most and Queen Latifah came up in conversation a lot. James told us about his experience with working with her on one of her music videos quite early on in his career. During the music video production James was assigned to the role of Queen Latifah's coffee runner and although he felt that he would be easily forgettable to her, she made the effort to thank him at the end of the day. James told us about how grateful he was for this and it is one of factors that inspired him to be thankful and polite to every person he meets.
